with me. The only sort of online username orA nickname I use is generally "cardigan", which is a piece of clothing and only returns results clothing-related.also returned nothing.
Searches for my grandpa's name alone returned lots of results, none him. Adding in a city didn't help either, nor did a suburb.
For my mum, the only results that were anything to do with her was her ABN (Australian Business Number).

If you're looking for employment you could use LinkedIn to make a profile.
You can use LinkedIn to store your contact info for others to utilize
Showcase and advertise a product/service for free
Send and recieve messages from others on LinkedIn
Keep up with news that's about companies, bussiness etc.
The issues faced when using LinkedIn
While scrolling through the news feed I was given "Jobs you may be interested in" although I've set my city to Adelaide, I was given job recommendations in places like Melbourne and Sydney, and not in Adelaide. Although the Jobs tab shows job recommendations for other cities as well as my own, it's still helpful but can be improved.
Companies recommending their own products.Unfollowing someone is difficult to find on a post, there's only a small "v" next to the post to unfollow them.
Tools, features and applications that can be used within LinkedIn
Share an update. Giving an update is a basic feature of LinkedIn, letting people know what is on your mind.
Who's viewed your profile. You can see who has viewed your profile under the "My Network" dropdown menu, letting you know who is interested in your profile.
Jobs. If you want to search for a job you can use LinkedIn's Jobs tab to browse job offers and apply for the job.
Search features. You can easily search for people, jobs, companies, groups, universities and more with the bar at the top of the webpage and even use advanced filters.
It's ease of use
Easy to navigate posting tools, example: Share an update, Upload a photo, Write an article.
Adding contacts with your email. You can add contacts using their email. This can be done automatically if you chose to in the "People You May Know" tab.
Relatively easy to get to the settings menu, allowing you to change privacy settings such as editing your public profile to see how your profile appears to others.

free services. Making a new account was simple. Moving on, I feel like having a collections feature in Google+ is neat, click on what content you want to see and you'll get loads of it. Wanting a mix of everything, that's your homepage.

Settings give you a lot of options. Some of which are changing privacy such as what others can see that aren't within your circles.

Not nearly as popular as it's other social media counterparts, most of the users only have an account to use YouTube.
Having to unsubscribe to things that the site has automatically set, such as collections.
Navigating could be difficult if you don't realize the drop-down 3 horizontal lines that you use to navigate. This has the links to everything in the site.

Creating a collection. Creating a collection is grouping your posts, pictures, videos, links, events and polls into one page. You decide what's in the collection and can also decide to make it public or private.
Google hangouts. Google hangouts is a feature that can be used to share messages, video calls and voice calls. This can be done with one person, or you can add others to the group chat aswell.
What's hot. Keep up with what's popular on the website.
A "What's new to you?" box on the homepage. You can use this box to post anything you'd like such as text, photos, links, videos, events and polls.

Following certain celebrities you like to keep you updated with them (they're generally active on Twitter)
You can absorb so much information just by using the scroll wheel and reading.
