My Perceptions of Google+

First off, I've never used Google+ but I have used Google's other services such as Gmail and Google Chrome, which are great free services. Making a new account was simple. Moving on, I feel like having a collections feature in Google+ is neat, click on what content you want to see and you'll get loads of it. Wanting a mix of everything, that's your homepage.
The positive reasons to use Google+
  1. Signing up to Google+ also means you have get an email account to use with Gmail. I recommend Gmail for it's great convenient tie in with google's other services.
  2. Follow the things you love. Hitting the follow button on things you love is a great way to keep track of what's new within that interest.
  3. Sort everyone you follow into categories using Circles
  4. Share updates and news with people that follow you
  5. Settings give you a lot of options. Some of which are changing privacy such as what others can see that aren't within your circles.
The issues faced when using Google+
  1. Not nearly as popular as it's other social media counterparts, most of the users only have an account to use YouTube.
  2. Having to unsubscribe to things that the site has automatically set, such as collections.
  3. Navigating could be difficult if you don't realize the drop-down 3 horizontal lines that you use to navigate. This has the links to everything in the site.
Tools, features and applications that can be used within Google+
  1. Creating a collection. Creating a collection is grouping your posts, pictures, videos, links, events and polls into one page. You decide what's in the collection and can also decide to make it public or private.
  2. Google hangouts. Google hangouts is a feature that can be used to share messages, video calls and voice calls. This can be done with one person, or you can add others to the group chat aswell.
  3. What's hot. Keep up with what's popular on the website.
  4. A "What's new to you?" box on the homepage. You can use this box to post anything you'd like such as text, photos, links, videos, events and polls.
It's ease of use
  1. While signing up I was prompted with an "Add people you know" box which was very convenient in finding other people I may know.
  2. Google+ likes to handhold you through the website on the first time using it with popups of information on certain features of the website from when you first use it.
