First off, I've never used Google+ but I have used Google's other services such as Gmail and Google Chrome, which are great free services. Making a new account was simple. Not nearly as popular as it's other social media counterparts, most of the users only have an account to use YouTube.
Having to unsubscribe to things that the site has automatically set, such as collections.
Navigating could be difficult if you don't realize the drop-down 3 horizontal lines that you use to navigate. This has the links to everything in the site.

A "What's new to you?" box on the homepage. You can use this box to post anything you'd like such as text, photos, links, videos, events and polls.

While signing up I was prompted with an "Add people you know" box which was very convenient in finding other people I may know.
Google+ likes to handhold you through the website on the first time using it with popups of information on certain features of the website from when you first use it.
