From my experience I feel Facebook has been improved upon in the past couple of years in terms of ease of use. Some features I used in the past felt too hard to find such as creating groups and the likes. It's great that Facebook has added a bunch of new privacy features as well, such as the new "Privacy Checkup," and other things like the "Help" section.
The positive reasons to use Facebook
Speak to friends and family.
Post about your life to keep others updated.
Indulge in videos of cats doing funny things.
Bored? You can play games on facebook.
No adult content. This means you can check it anywhere without the need to worry.
The issues faced when using Facebook
Scammers and spammers attacking you
Identity fraud, catfishing (someone pretending they are someone else).
Without proper privacy settings, just about anyone could find out a lot of information about you.
